The trustees of the new body met for their first proper meeting on 26 July, and elected Geoffrey Dale as chairman and Matilda Clark as vice chairman.
Much of the meeting was taken up with visits to the three sites in Steep set aside for allotments, in Church Road, in Sandy Lane (Steep Marsh) and in Ridge Common Lane (near the border with Stroud).
As to the business itself, we still have to get approval as a body from the Charity Commission, but I do not see any difficulty with this, though it may take some time. In the meantime the trustees are going out and listening to people, seeking views, and especially seeking cases of need. I think we all realise that the task before us is not a simple one, but we hope to do our best for the village. There will not be anything concrete to report for some time, but I promise to keep parishioners in the picture as far as is possible, via the newsletter.
